Guided Evening Tours in English or other languages

The Guided Evening Tours are our main, regular offering. Next to these, we also offer special guided tours for children.

 Opening hours

Our shows are usually done in German, but on Monday evenings we additionally offer regular shows in English. For shows in other languages or on other days, please contact us.

The Public Observatory Munich is open to the public irrespective of weather conditions:

Beginning of the guided tour in English (duration about 2 hours):

Monday, 20:00 h (September - March)
  21:00 h (April - August)

We are closed on statutory holidays and between Christmas (December 24) and New Year (January 01).

 Reservation

There is no reservation necessary for our guided evening tours. Just visit us - an evening with clear skies would be best - and enjoy our shows! Our staff, which mostly works on an honorary basis is always looking forward to welcome you.

If you plan to visit us with a larger group, we kindly ask you to contact us before by telephone, so that we can avoid overlaps with other groups.

 Admission

The admission fee for the two-hour guided tour is:
5 Euro as normal admission per person,
3 Euro as reduced admission per person,
Children under 4 years are admitted free.

Schedule of the Guided Evening Tour

Our program has the following steps (with the focus depending on the weather conditions):

  • Tour of the observatory
  • Lecture in our exhibition hall with detailed explanations
  • Planetarium show: Artificial night sky in a 4.5 m sky dome
  • Observing celestial objects through our telescopes (requires clear skies)

Apart from this general program we will always try to answer your specific questions. With registered groups this will be even easier.

A very wide range of events within our astronomical setting can be realized during a specially planned / organised event.
